Save the Date...Literally. Darkroom Demons are at SXSW!

Well, one demon that is... Sir Reeves is going to Texas for SXSW while I continue my medical sabbatical in Chicago. If you're planning on being in Austin in a few weeks, stop in at Opal Divine's on Thursday, March 19th and see some Chicago kids throw down (i.e. Flosstradamus, Sir Reeves). Our friends at Cornerstone throw the best parties ever, so I expect the photos to be an orgy of sweat and sound.

If you can't make it to Austin, stop by Claychella this Saturday March 7th at Debonair Social Club to catch Floss play "Happy Birthday to Clayton" 20 times in a row! We will be there subjecting ourselves to many a pint in honor of our fellow shooter.

Sneak Preview....Shiny Toy Guns

Last week, Sir Reeves took me out on a date to AK and the Shiny Toy Guns secret show on Hooker Street. As always, trouble ensued and the Wife nearly had me balls in a sling. But there are some highlights comin' tomorrow....Enjoy for now, fellow eyeliners.

Superbowl Shuffle and our spot in Paper Magazine...

This week, we put up our "Familiar Faces of 2008" galleries which captures all sorts of unruly people we shot this year, from Obama and Biden to Spencer and Heidi. As we comb through our music photos from last year for our first "mix tape annual", we're realizing we left a lot of people out. For instance, Ben Roethlisberger, as seen above with the girlfriend of our friend Rob Patterson. Also this month, our coverage of the Absolut Disco for Paper Mag made it into glorious b&w. Just because Beyonce's sister is on the cover doesn't mean it ain't still super cool. This month is all Reeves due to my crippling injury which has left me hallucinating that angry scorpions are trapped in my full arm cast. Give Sir Reeves a drink when you see him 'cause he's gonna be very, very busy. Fuck... fire ants just laid eggs on my arm....

A Quick Pick Me Up...

Seeing as my elbow surgery is coming up and I can't take a picture in our preferred environments til Late March/Early April, I have been seeking out support wherever I can find it. Reeves will be extremely busy as I play with my Fischer-Price phone and attempt to run our business. So a friend pointed me to this wonderful product. But I think it has had an inverse effect on me and I am now convinced that humanity is going to expire before the date on the package.

And seeing as Hoth hasn't lent itself to crazy photos lately, we're gonna gather all the celebs, rockstars, and carnival workers we took pictures of in 2008 AD and put em in one gallery later this week. Stay tuned.

Prime Directive 5: Steal Frozen Fried Chicken

So during work today, Reeves obliterated any chance of productivity when showed me his new prize from a vintage toy store in NYC: a 12" Robocop talking action figure. The shiny silver armor was almost as disconcerting as the fact that it made a wailing siren sound. But the figure looked EXACTLY like the Korean Robocop who is shilling fried Chicken and ripping refrigerators off the wall. What a tyrant... First he comes at you out of the TV like that freaky chick from "The Ring" and then he steals a family's only means of sustenance. Apparently, Robocop's maxims of honor and justice don't hold up too well in the Asian market. Bet he got paid alot for the ad though....

Go Robo!

Next Time You See Reeves...Ask him about the Arab Parrot Bird Cage

While you can try to decipher what exactly the Arab Parrot Bird Cage is through twitter or in its blog (listed in our links), its best you have Sir Matthew Reeves give you the same googly eyes of wonder and listen to the excitement in his voice when he tells you about one of New York's finest....er, how do I say? Fuck it. I'll just let Reeves tell you if you haven't been there already.

Clickable Comics! End of 2008 Edition with the Superstars of LOVE!!!

The end of 2008 was a strange one for Reeves and I. While he was busy traipsing around in NYC at the beginning of December (and again this week!) I found out that it was time to cut open my elbow and put the camera down for a few months. Yeah. A few months. So I will be sitting at home throwing dialog balloons on everything I can get my greasy hands on until March- You have been warned! My isolation and heavy doses of narcotics might result in some tender moments turned into bloody valentines. Meanwhile, Reevesy and I will be working diligently in the studio trying to create this thing I recently heard about called "Art". Reeves says its a bunch of Bollocks, but what does he know? He's from some tropical island far away called Ing-Lund. Speaking of "Art", I just watched "The Rape of Europa", an undeniably heart wrenching and ghastly film about the Nazi obsession with Fine Art and how it was the underlying motivation (alongside Wagner's MO) for Hitler to conquer Europe and slaughter tens of millions of its inhabitants, including the Jews. I ended up following it up with 1991's "Architect of Doom" which serves as a perfect companion piece. So if you're like me and still trying to make rhyme or reason of how and why 50 million people died in the Great War, check these out. It was all about the Art.

Cheerz.
